Designed by architects Werner van der Meulen, this beautiful residence is located in South Africa, in a small urban settlement. A single photo of the exterior is enough to demonstrate this home’s originality. The horizontal window “shields” made of wood have a particular charm and give the home a personalized look. With floor to ceiling windows, the indoor-outdoor connection is optimized without affecting the privacy of the inhabitants. Water was an important factor when laying out the outdoor space. Aside from the generous pool complimented by a dining area, the residence is enriched by various “oases”. The interior design is highly modern, with beautiful contemporary furniture arrangements and inspiring details. What intrigued us is the barbed wire in the last photo (a common addition to fences in South Africa) which contrasts heavily with the overall design of the house.
