Seventeen BMW Art Cars in 35 years. Stunning looks, stunning performance, and now their most stunning back drop ever. The Jeff Koons M3 GT2 race car that competed in the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans was air lifted to one of the most beautiful spots on earth, Pulpit Rock in Norway August 21st of this year.

According to the video, the placement of the Koons Art car was an artistic tribute Norway’s painter Edvard Munch. His 1895 painting “The Scream” just sold for $119.9 million at a Sotheby’s auction this May. Munch’s creation is to be displayed at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in NYC for six months starting October 24th, according to The LA Times.

The Jeff Koons’ 500 bhp M3 GT2 Art Car was most recently displayed in London for two weeks. This was part of the Institute of Contemporary Arts 2012’s Festival, a 12 week celebration bringing artists from across the world together with the very best of the United Kingdom.

Here’s our write up of the Jeff Koons’ M3 GT2 race car which debuted in Paris June 2010. The article gives more insight to the process of this particular Art Car’s aesthetic and aerodynamic design and how the Andy Warhol of today designed it.
