Hee Lim is a Korean American designer based in Brooklyn, New York. In 2006 he moved from his hometown of Chicago to New York to attend Parsons the New School For Design where he received a nomination for Designer of the Year in his final year of study. He developed his professional career by working alongsided Wayne Lee of WAYNE as a design assistant and other numerous opportunities freelancing for private labels. Currently he is focused on his new project, hee.lim.
The hee.lim design aesthetic evaluates different forms of shelter in relation to the human form. It explores the concept of a garment as an entity other than clothing, that can compliment both men and women through a futuristic narrative of dress. Inspired by technology and the paranormal, the designer collection investigates the different functions of outerwear and its ability to transition into a model of shelter. To articulate this metamorphosis, synthetic fabrics are juxtaposed with effortless knits. hee.lim utilizes a fresh approach to how clothing can interact with the body through comfort, sophistication, and a little bit of edge.
While discussing with Mr Lee about his SS13 collection, he admitted that "it was inspired by the film Battle Royale, explores the ideas of body accessories combined with outerwear using synthetic materials such as neoprene, cording, and rope. With the combination of color and shape, the collection portrays a futuristic narrative of dress". We wish all the best!
