Sushi Says http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/
>> There has been so much to digest at London Fashion Week that just sorting through images takes a mammoth load of time. I'm merely checking in to say that I am still alive despite my bedraggled appearance and to say that the exhaustion is well worth it because LFW has been an exhilarating ride. One that has filled up a 16GB SD card. Fred Butler isn't by any means an exception the exhaustive list of names that got me very excited and giggly at the shows but her presentation is a no brainer overload of the sort of things that make my aesthetic taste quite predictable at times, thus making it all too easy for me to bang out a post. Pastel colours. Check. My Little Pony hair. Check. Cute knitwear. Check. Tactability. Check. Brilliant shoe collaboration. Check. A reference to food. Check.Eh? The last one may surprise you a little as it's not immediately apparent until you look closely but Fred Butler has lifted the colours of sushi - wasabi green, pickled ginger pink, caviar coral oranges as well as the monochromatic lines between seaweed and sushi - and applied them to a quilted ski jacket and spongey looking macrame belts and headbands. It's less odd than you think once you see sushi through pastel hued sunglasses. For the first time, Fred Butler has created a range of knitwear in collaboration with pro-English-knit company EDE which adds a pragamatic touch to her statement paper-based pieces. For the second time, she's worked with Rosy Nichols on the shoes to marry up with the knitwear. It's all incredibly delicious looking and whilst you can just about see the reference point, it's not tuna sashimi or salmon skin rolls I'm thinking of, but rather that Fred's imagination is untainted and incredibly difficult not to fall head over heels for.
Check out Marian Newman's amazing digitally printed sushi nails... I want to be clawed by a california roll...
Then there was a sushi tray baked by Pomp de Franc. Baked, you ask? Why yes! This is all entirely made out of cake, marshmallow and other sweet thangs. That is serious British Bake Off skill.
