The project spatial arrangement results from the interlocking of old and new spaces in a design that promotes relaxed enjoyment of the exotic locale while accommodating both quite privacy and large social events.

Traditional vernacular and innovative contemporary features are equally used throughout the house as for example the contemporary shape of the translucent fiber reinforced resin composites form, internally lit, double walled master bathroom module contrasting somehow with the vintage ipea wood floors or the vibrant colors of the glass canes used inside the traditional wood carabottino structure of gates, railings and doors.

The house is an organic composition based on open informal spaces branching out to incorporate nature through the dissolution of any boundaries in a fusion between arch and landscape.

The layout is organized around the original main building completely re-mastered suggesting the idea of a ship with three decks.

Labo Design Studio was founded in 2001 by Raffaella Bortoluzzi.

The firm, located in New York City has designed residential and commercial projects in US and abroad, striving for a rigorous approach to design and construction, delivering elegant responses to program requirements.

Rich, warm yet spare interiors characterize most of the residential. New materials, new building techniques and challenging exchanges with artists characterize most the retail projects.
